-The Man Who Followed His Guided Missiles-

Fate took Joseph "Jerry” Kramer, chief executive officer of Pacific International Inc., to Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands are the better for his business acumen and philanthropy.

PIH's parent company, Servco Pacific Inc., had announced its intention to sell its interest in PMI some time ago, as part of its desire to focus its resources on its automotive, consumer products distribution, insurance and real estate operations in Hawaii and Guam. The Kabua and Kramer families, having their roots in the Marshall Islands and playing prominent roles in that community, wanted to continue their involvement in PMI and guide it to future prosperity and growth. Following experiments over the last three years with Tobolar Copra Processing Plant vehicles using coconut oil as a substitute for diesel fuel, Pacific International Inc.-the country's largest construction firm-is fueling its fleet of heavy equipment and its ocean-going vessels with cheaper and cleaner coconut oil.
